Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: the hazards of severe injuries and or death associated with exposure to fall hazards of 30 feet high. a) 2200 W. Wyoming McKinney Texas. Three (3) employees of Tyson Building were exposed to serious injury while being elevated on a work platform suspended on the forks of a Sky Trak Rough Terrain Forklift.Employees were observed not wearing a harness and a lanyard attached to the platform. A danger of falling 17 feet was present. One feasible method of correcting this hazard among others is to implement and follow ANSI/ASME B56.6 - 1992 Section 5.15; Elevating Personnel: 5.15.1(k): Insure that required restraint means such as railings,chains,body belts with lanyards are in place and properly used.
