Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to burns: (a) Location - Establishment/Fish Processing Area: On or about 11/12/97, employees were exposed to the hazard of fire and explosion resulting from the operation of forklifts and mechanical handling equipment adjacent to unprotected natural gas lines and meters. Among other methods, feasible abate methods include: Install a guard rail system similar to the one employer has installed around the freon compressors, to prevent inadvertent contact with gas lines.
