Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that that employeeswere causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: A crushing hazard. (a)On or before March 28,1997, at 115 Railroad Ave in Albany N.Y., Two employees of Tracey Freightliner were working under a Freightliner truck plate # 9088924 Maine, in the repair garage at Tracey Freightliner Co. The employees were exposed to a crushing hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is at a minimum consider the following: 1.Make mandatory job safety pratices that no employee be under a truck/tractor while it is being raised or lowered. 2.Ensure that the truck/tractor will be supported on floor stands after raised. 3.Ensure the use of floor jacks that will be operated from a safe distance from the vehicle/truck. 4.Ensure that all truck mechanics are trained in the procedures regarding the placement of wheel chocks. 5.Document and enforce the implemented procedures.
