Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard getting caught in moving parts of conveyors: (a)Kruger Recycling, conveyor one and two were not designed so that when the stop cord was pulled that it must be manually reset to restart. When the cords were released, the conveyor would automatically restart, on or about 2/21/97. ABATEMENT NOTES: Among others, one suitable method for abating this hazardous condition is: 1. Install emergency stops that shall act directly on the control of the conveyor concerned and which shall not depend on the stopping of any other equipment. The emergency stop devices shall installed so that it cannot be overridden from other locations.
