Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing injuries in the event of a forklift tipover accident because of the lack of restraint devices. Among other methods, one feasible and accpeptable means of abatement to correct thes hazard would be to install seatbelts and require the use of such on all forklifts plantwide witch contain an overhead guard: a) 2355 PROVIDENCE RD: SHIPPING/RECEIVING/MATERIAL HANDLING AREAS, NONE OF THE COMPANIES THREE FORK LIFT TRUCKS WHICH HAD OVERHEAD GUARDS HAD SEATBELTS.
