Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing injuries in the event of a forklift tip-over accident because of lack of restraint devices. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement to correct the hazard would be to install seatbelts and require the use of such in the establishment on all forklifts containing overhead guards. DOOR 4, FREIGHT DOCK: THE OPERATOR OF FORKLIFT DAEWOO SER 9500719, MOD GC2533, #2977 WAS NOT WEARING A SEATBELT ALTHOUGH THE FORKLIFT WAS EQUIPPED WITH BOTH A SEATBELT AND AN OVERHEAD GUARD.AD
