Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by a horizontally moving steel beam: a.Plant - The `stops' on the cambering table had not been constructed and rated such that they would sustain the forces created when the hydraulic jack moved the steel beam against them. (Specific abatement documentation is required. Also, the cited equipment must be tagged in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(i).) ABATEMENT NOTE: One feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to construct the stops per the instruction of a registered professional engineer who has taken into account the forces imposed during the cambering process.g
