Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of fire or explosion: (a)Paragraph 7-1 of the 1985 edition of NFPA 33, Standard for Spray Application Using Flammable and Combustible Material, requires that spray areas be protected with an approved automatic fire extinguishing system. Spray paint room and undercoating room are not provided with an automatic fire extinguishing system, exposing employees to the hazards associated with fire and explosions.
