Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: TB
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: falls ranging from thirty five to thirty eight feet above ground level. (a) North Versailles Jobsite; Employees used a Terex Model TB 60/66 aerial boom lift to gain access to the structural steel. Among one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard are the following: 1) Employees are to wear fall protection devices when working in an aerial lift such as the Terex model employed at the worksite; 2) Employees are not to use the aerial lifts in a manner contrary to the instructions set forth in the operator's manual. Specifically, employees are not to climb on the platform railing and are not to use the aerial lifts to gain access to the structural steel.
