Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards while working in unprotected elevated locations: Brooder Barn 6 - On or about June 16, 2000, an employee working on the bird crew was not provided with adequate fall protection and was exposed to a fall distance of greater than nine feet. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to properly install the guardrail and chain system. Your company was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 300298734, Citation Number 1, Item Number 1, issued on May 28, 1999.d
