Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards while working in unprotected elevated locations: Barn 25 - On or about December 9, 1998, the employees working on the bird crew were not provided with adequate fall protection and were exposed to a fall distance of greater than eight feet. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to properly position the bird trailer to protect employees while they are unloading bird carts.ing
