Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Construction Site - On October 7, 1998 (3) three employees were installing wooden trusses on a pole barn. These wooden trusses had not been properly braced either laterally nor diagonally. Among other feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are to: 1. Install all lateral and diagonal bracing as required. 2. Follow the Truss Plate Institute Summary Sheet HIB-91 (Handling, Installation, and Bracing Metal Plate Connected Wooden Trusses) during the erection and installation of all wooden truss systems.tion
