Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: The hazard of falling from a Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platform. At the job site located on the campus of Northland College, Ashland, WI an employee was pressure washing the outside of a building while using the work platform without wearing a personal fall arrest system. Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A92.5 - 1992 Standard for Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platforms: provide and require that employees operating the work platform wear personal fall arrest equipment as required by Section 8.8(g).
