Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employees were exposed to a potential fall hazard while removing stock from elevated platforms due to the lack of enforcement in the use of proper equipment. Employees were allowed to climb on the framework of the storage platforms. Abatement Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to properly train the employees of the potential hazards and to enforce the use of an acceptable ladder, a mechanical lift with the use of a body harness, or an equivalent means of protection.
