Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to potential bursting of PVC piping. (a)In the Paint and Caulk Areas: On or about 01/28/97 and at times prior there to, compressed air was transported in PVC pipe attached to the walls and ceiling of the paint rooms and caulk area. Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: Replace the PVC pipe with steel pipe listed for the use intended.
