Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to serious injury from crushing and struck by hazards. (a) Pallet repair room: Employees were exposed to crushing and struck by hazards due to a damaged roof decking support beam that had a stress crack that weakened its ability to adequately support the roof weight and any snow or rain load imposed on it. ABATEMENT NOTE; One feasible means of abatement would be to replace the beam or make repairs design by a structural Engineer.
