Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards: A.HAND SOLDERING STATION: A FLASH ARRESTOR/BACKFLOW PREVENTER WAS NOT PROVIDED ON THE GAS/AIR PIPING THAT SUPPLIED TWO HAND SOLDER TORCHES. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO: 1.INSTALL A PROPER FLASH ARRESTOR/BACK FLOW DEVICE ON ALL GAS/AIR MIXTURE PIPING, AS CLOSE TO THE OUTLET AS POSSIBLE. 2.IMPLEMENT A PROGRAM OF REGULAR INSPECTIONS OF ALL GAS PIPING PROTECTIVE DEVICES TO ENSURE PROPER WORKING ORDER. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION IS NOT REQUIRED
