29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface having an unprotected side or edge which was six or more feet (1.8m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or person. Porterville, California: On December 30, 2025, an employee was directing traffic on a wooden bridge with wooden planks without having a proper guarding system and/or procedures in place to prevent fall hazards. The employee was exposed to a fall of approximately 20 - 22 feet above the ground.
