Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards from malfunctioning and improperly inspected automotive lifts. a) On or about December 30, 2025, the employer failed to ensure the automotive lifts and alignment racks located in Bay #1 through Bay #5 were inspected, maintained, and operated in a manner that prevented uncontrolled vertical movement and mechanical failure. Employees were servicing vehicles beneath and around the lifts when lifts continued to rise past their stopping point, requiring employees to run to the fuse box to stop lift movement, and when a center lift previously detached during elevation and fell next to an employee who had been working directly beneath it. As a result, employees were exposed to crushing and struck?by hazards.
