Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.20(b)(1): The employer did not initiate and maintain such programs as may be necessary to comply with this part. a) On or about 6/6/2025, at the workplace located at 2170 Robinhood St., Sarasota, Florida 34231: The employer failed to develop and/or implement a heat illness prevention program with policy, hazard assessment and work rules. Employees were exposed to the hazard of high heat from direct sun during the performance of their job duties, including lifting, carrying and laying rebar in preparation to pour concrete. The calculated Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) ranged from 25?- 31? (76? to 87?) and a calculated heat index of 26?-36? (79 ? to 98?) while working outdoors for approximately 8 hours performing moderate to heavy manual labor and wearing long pants, boots, long sleeve shirts, hard hats and gloves. Such exposures are likely to lead to the development of serious heat-related illnesses such as, but not limited to, heat cramps, heat stress, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
