Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On or about November 28, 1989, at approximately 12:15 P.M. at 3300 Indians River Road, Jensen Beach, Fl, employees working on a 12-13- foot high overhang engaged in demolition work were not protected against falls from that elevation to ground level. One feasible and acceptable abatement method among others, to correct this hazard is: To use demolition equipment adequate for the operation such as a "headache" ball to pound on the structure eliminating employee exposure to hazardous conditions.
