Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2): A stairway, ladder, ramp or other safe means of egress was not located in trench excavations that were 4 feet (1.22m) or more in depth so as to require no more than 25 feet (7.62m) of lateral travel for employees: a. Trench - On or about May 5, 2025, employees were exposed to caught in and struck by hazards while working inside a trench that was greater than four feet deep without a safe means of egress such as ladder, stairway or stabilized ramp. b. Trench - On or about May 5, 2025, employees were exposed to caught in and struck by hazards while working inside a trench that was greater than four feet deep, the slightly sloped egress path employees were using was greater than 25 feet from the junction that they were installing. Abatement certification and documentation required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date and method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. Abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records.
