Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling scaffold from 60 ft. height: a) Centerre 21 Building, Hwy 270 and Hwy 21, single point suspension scaffold, i.e. Sky Genie Seathboard System, supported from the roof by a manganese I-Beam outrigger, was not anchored or tied back or prevent accidental movement or displacement on the roof. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to tieback the I-Beam outrigger at right angles to the face of the building, securely fastened to a substantial member of the structure (building).
