Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard of 10 to 12 feet and/or crushing injuries: (a) Vern Duffin Farms, American Falls, Idaho - On or about September 2, 1992 employee working in bucket front end loader (John Deere, Model 48) and on tractor (John Deere, Model 4020) to remove auger from frame, exposing employee to fall hazards and crushing hazards. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: Use a rough terrain self-propelled aerial work platform or a vehicle-mounted elevating and rotating work platform.
