Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.178(o)(1): Only stable or safely arranged loads shall be handled. Caution shall be exercised when handling off-center loads which cannot be centered. a) On or about February 17, 2025, employees operating electric pallet jacks were assigned to lift and transport metal racks than were greater than 15 feet in height. The employer did not ensure the loads were stable or safely arranged prior to assigning the work, exposing employees to crushing and struck-by hazards associated with dropped loads. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
