Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.176(a):Use of mechanical equipment. Where mechanical handling equipment is used, sufficient safe clearances shall be allowed for aisles, at loading docks, through doorways and wherever turns or passage must be made. Aisles and passageways shall be kept clear and in good repair, with no obstruction across or in aisles that could create a hazard. Permanent aisles and passageways shall be appropriately marked. a) On 2/18/2025, the employer did not ensure that at the cabinet wrapping area where mechanical equipment such as the Caterpillar forklift (Model #2c5000)(Serial # AT9047038) was utilized to move a cabinet on a pallet measuring 54" x 31", that there was sufficient safe clearance when pedestrians and the forklift were in the area at the same time, to prevent exposure to struck-by hazards.
