Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1000(a)(2): Employees were exposed to an airborne concentration of a contaminant listed in Table Z-1 in excess of the 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) concentration given for that contaminant: a) Compass Group USA, Inc. DBA Chartwells K12, 1001 Park Ave, Syracuse, NY 13204. On or about January 7, 2025, a food service worker was exposed to 84.9 parts per million (ppm) of carbon monoxide as an 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) from an improperly maintained C24GA Series Gas Convection Steamer. The exposure concentration was determined by the employee's carboxyhemoglobin (%COHb) medical blood gas measurement following the employee's exposure. This level is 1.7 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 50 ppm. This exposure occurred over a 130 minute exposure period. b) Compass Group USA, Inc. DBA Chartwells K12, 1001 Park Ave, Syracuse, NY 13204. On or about January 7, 2025, a food service worker was exposed to 96.0 parts per million (ppm) of carbon monoxide as an 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) from an improperly maintained C24GA Series Gas Convection Steamer. The exposure concentration was determined by the employee's carboxyhemoglobin (%COHb) medical blood gas measurement following the employee's exposure. This level is 1.92 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 50 ppm. This exposure occurred over a 120 minute exposure period. c) Compass Group USA, Inc. DBA Chartwells K12, 1001 Park Ave, Syracuse, NY 13204. On or about January 7, 2025, a food service worker was exposed to 108.1 parts per million (ppm) of carbon monoxide as an 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) from an improperly maintained C24GA Series Gas Convection Steamer. The exposure concentration was determined by the employee's carboxyhemoglobin (%COHb) medical blood gas measurement following the employee's exposure. This level is 2.16 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 50 ppm. This exposure occurred over a 120 minute exposure period. Abatement documentation is required.
