Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall and topple over hazard while working ten (10) feet high: (a) Jobsite: An employee was working on the telescopic lift platforms, and did not have extended outriggers, and brakes applied. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is the following: 1. Brakes shall be engaged prior to entering the platform; 2. Outriggers shall be fully extended prior to entering the platform; 3. All employees using elevating work platforms should be trained in the following: A. All safety equipment and instructions; B. All safety operation procedures; C. All safety maintenance procedures; 4. All elevating work platforms shall be inspected prior to use at each shift or with each new
