Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falls while working at elevated locations erecting bracing for support of concrete forms and Sonotubes: a. Job Site, Bridge, Junction of Interstate 89 and Clinton St. An employee involved in erecting bracing for Sonotubes was not protected from fall hazards of up to 12 feet 9 inches to the level below. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to enforce the use of safety belts/harnesses and lifelines while employees are working at the elevated locations.
