OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: At the facility located at 210 Kelly Road in Buffalo, Missouri: On or about October 7, 2024, employees in the shipping and painting area were exposed to a struck-by and caught-in-between hazard while working with, and near, vertically staged steel roof trusses posing the risk of toppling over when displaced. AMONG OTHER METHODS, FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHODS TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD ARE: i. Evaluate and implement methods to ensure that vertically stored trusses are protected against accidental displacement. ii. Formalize and train employees on truss handling procedures that remove employees from the danger zone during truss handling operations. iii. Evaluate and implement suitable tools and materials that allow employees handle trusses from a distance outside of the struck-by danger zone. The tools and materials may include, but are not limited to, wireless crane controls and tag lines.
