Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.850(a):An engineering survey was not performed by a competent person to determine the conditions of the framing, floors and walls and the possibility of unplanned collapse of any portion of the structure prior to permitting employees to start demolition operations: (a) 535 West Avalon Ave., Muscle Shoals: On or about 9/6/2024, the employer exposed employees to construction hazards such as but not limited to, struck by and fall hazards, in that an engineering survey was not completed to ensure the removal of load bearing structural member as well as non-structural walls, internal systems such as piping were conducted to prevent or minimize potential employee exposures. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
