Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: DUST&FUMES
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were freef from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Main elevator, truck dump - approximately 7 feet by 9 feet. b) North elevator, truck dump - approximately 6 feet by 7 feet. The hazard of dust explosion created by tramp metal entering the grain flow system through the unloading grates and could cause sparks. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is the installation of screens or welding of rebars with approximately two and one-half inch (2 1/2 inch) maximum opening over the entire truck dump.
