Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: DUST&FUMES
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Mill, truck dumps - two openings, one 4' by 4', the other 2' by 4'. The hazard of dust explosion created by tramp metal entering the grain flow system through the unloading grates. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement methodto correct this hazard is the installation of screens or rebars with approximately 2 1/2 inch maximum openings over the truck dump pit.
