29 CFR 1910.179(j)(2)(i): All functional operating mechanisms were not inspected daily for maladjustment interfering with proper operation. a. ABC Technologies WMG USA, Inc. - Bellevue, Ohio: On or about June 27, 2024, the employer did not ensure daily functional tests of the east Engineered Material Handling 50/20-ton overhead gantry crane (model ZLK; s/n 101677) were conducted. Employees were exposed to struck-by and crushing injuries in that daily checks of functions such as, but not limited to, travel and hoist brakes, limit switches, and for wire rope damage, were not performed. b. ABC Technologies WMG USA, Inc. - Bellevue, Ohio: On or about June 27, 2024, the employer did not ensure daily functional tests of the west Engineered Material Handling 50/20-ton overhead gantry crane (s/n 975386) were conducted. Employees were exposed to struck-by and crushing injuries in that daily checks of functions such as, but not limited to, travel and hoist brakes, limit switches, and for wire rope damage, were not performed. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence, or written records.
