29 CFR 1910.138(a): General requirements. Employers shall select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. On or about May 31, 2024, employees in the CRT and Frit Line were exposed to laceration hazards while sorting and picking contaminants from the CRT glass. The employer failed to select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as severe cuts or lacerations. Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
