Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a.On or about May 17, 2000, an employee was exposed to injury while standing on the tire of the Michigan 275-B tractor shovel performing maintenance with the engine running and did not utilize any lockout/tagout procedures. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to follow American National Standards Institute (ANSI)Z244.1, Lockout/Tagout of Energy Sources-Minimum Safety Requirements.
