Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) On or about September 7, 1985, employees were exposed to a hazard of electrical shock during repair work on damaged electric distribution lines rated at 13,200 vac near Ladner Road, Gautier, Mississippi. Employees were attempting to remove a boom cable from a pole being framed. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be: Where danger exist of contact with energized lines, the lines shall be de-energized or coverd with protective devices to prevent the hazard to employee if accidental contact is made with the lines.
