29 CFR 1910.184(d): Sling(s) and fastenings were not inspected each day or during use and were not removed from service when damaged or defective: (a) 5140 Martin Drive, Gap, PA; Small Parts Welding Station, 5-ton hoist - On or about April 9, 2024, the employee was using the metal chain sling hook to lift metal parts for welding weighing approximately 200lbs without a safety latch across the hook throat. The employee was exposed to a crushing hazard. (b) 5140 Martin Drive, Gap, PA; Single Frame Truck Weld Station, 10-ton hoist - On or about April 9, 2024, the metal chain sling hook which was used to lift and move trailers being assembled did not have a safety latch across the hook throat. Employees were exposed to a crushing hazard. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
