Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section 5(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-against hazards during equipment extraction: a) On March 18, 2024, at 1811 20th Avenue Southeast in Minot, ND, while employees were pulling, and/or extracting a JLG 460SJ Serial #0300114614, Model Year 2007, with a Ford F550 using a tow rope that was not designed for extracting or rated for the capacity in which it was used, exposed employees to struck-by hazards. Note: Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods of abatement include: 1. Follow manufacturer's instructions for tow slings, ropes, chains, and connectors to include rated capacities and configurations 2. Establish and implement written procedures for assessing hazards of extraction work and controlling exposure to hazards; and 3. Follow the equipment operating instructions for towing, extraction, and connections.
