OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were regularly exposed to struck-by hazards while operating the horizontal centrifugal casting machine (horizontal spinner) to produce babbitt bearings: On or about February 21, 2024, employees were working in the Babbitting Room where the Horizontal Centrifugal Babbitt Casting Machine, known as the horizontal spinner machine, was operating to produce 24 in. babbitt bearings. Employees were exposed to struck-by hazards of flying machine parts (e.g. front plate, tie rods, washers, etc.), shell pieces, and molten metal likely to result in serious injury when the assembly components separated during shell rotation.
