Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1001(j)(1)(iii): Employers shall include asbestos in the hazard communication program established to comply with the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) (29 CFR 1910.1200). Employers shall ensure that each employee has access to labels on containers of asbestos containing material and to safety data sheets, and is trained in accordance with the requirements of HCS and paragraph (j)(7) of this section. In the main shop at 14 Bridge St. South Hadley, MA: On or about January 31, 2024, the employer had not included asbestos in the Hazard Communication program and did not ensure that each employee had access to labels, Safety Data Sheets, and was trained as required. Employees are exposed to asbestos containing materials while accessing attics, basements and other areas of houses built prior to 1980.
