OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees due to chemical exposure hazards from anhydrous ammonia: a. Compressor Room 1 - On or about January 3, 2024, the employer did not ensure the ammonia detectors were placed in a position where it is expected to be the most effective. Employees assigned to operate and maintain the ammonia system in the engine room were exposed to anhydrous ammonia vapor of unknown concentrations due to detection equipment not being installed in the appropriate locations.
