Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees exposed to shear points: On December 8, 2023, and times prior the employees were exposed to a shear point hazard created by rotating parts while performing activities such as, warming up the hydraulics on the rod tongs while servicing Precision Energy; Model M50. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to abate this hazard include but are not limited to: 1. Implementing and following procedures established in ANSI Z 244.1 "Control of Hazardous Energy Lockout/Tagout and Alternative Methods. 2. Implement and follow the American Petroleum Institute (API) RP 54 section 6.9 "Lockout/Tagout". 3. Install an effective guarding mechanism that would protect employees engaged in operations exposing them to rotating parts and shear points.
