Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(4): Barrels, containers, and drums. Revolving drums, barrels, and containers shall be guarded by an enclosure which is interlocked with the drive mechanism, so that the barrel, drum, or container cannot revolve unless the guard enclosure is in place: a) Wire and Cable Specialties, Inc., located at 440 Highlands Blvd., Coatesville, Pennsylvania: Wire Stranding Machine Area- On or about October 10, 2023, the employer did not ensure that the enclosure of the revolving drum on a Wire Stranding Machine was interlocked with the drive mechanism. Interlock devices were bypassed with cardboard and rags on the Wire Stranding Machines, to include but not limited to Machine 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 17,28, 29, and 31, exposing employees to amputation hazards.
