Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to excessive heat while working outdoors: On or about August 22, 2023, employees repairing a water main leak were exposed to the hazard of high temperatures while working in an outdoor environment which produced Wet Bulb Globe Temperatures (WBGT) ranging from 76.0 degrees Fahrenheit to WBGT 84.0 degrees Fahrenheit (Heat Index ranging from 84.0 degrees Fahrenheit to 105.0 degrees Fahrenheit). Such exposures may lead to the development of serious heat-related illnesses such as, but not limited to, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and death.
