OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were not protected from the hazard of high heat while performing jobs duties. a) On or about August 21, 2023, at Tigner Farm Road, Haynesville, LA 71038, an employee was exposed to high outdoor heat from direct sun with an air temperature of 105 degrees F, heat index of 112.5 degrees F, and a WBGT of 93.8 degrees F while repairing a mulcher. Such exposures are likely to lead to the development of serious heat-related illnesses such as, but not limited to, heat cramps, heat stress, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. An employee working alone in these conditions was found unresponsive and transported by emergency medical services to the hospital where he was pronounced dead due to heat-related illness.
