Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.200(g)(2): Traffic control signs or devices used for protection of construction workers did not conform to Part VI of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (AMUTCD"), 1988 Edition, Revision 3, September 3, 1993, FHWA-SA-94-027 or Part VI of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Millenium Edition, December 2000, FHWA: a. On or about August 03, 2023, employees working within a highway work activity area were exposed to vehicular struck-by hazards, in that, the employer had not setup the activity area in accordance with the requirements of the U.S. DOT MUTCD/Manual of Uniformed Traffic Control Devices, Section 6, in that, the employer had (1) not utilized adequate TTC/Temporary Traffic Control devises along the work space (FL SR 776 and Sturkie Avenue) such as temporary traffic barriers (2) nor had the employer utilized TCC devises such as regulatory reduced speed signs and (3) uniformed police officers nor (4) had the employer opted to close the outside lane, which in turn would have created a much greater buffer space between the vehicular traffic and the work space/employees.
