Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1) The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: On or about 06/21/2023, in the maintenance shop located at 40096 Runway Blvd, Pratt, KS 67124, employee(s) were exposed to struck-by hazards in that no restraining device were utilized when deflating or inflating tires. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means of abatement are: 1. Follow the recommendations of the Aircraft Tire Maintenance and Operational Practices of the U.S. Department of Labor: Federal Aviation Administration AC No: 20-97B: a) Initial Inflation for Tube-Type Tires. Inflate the assembly to rated pressure in a safety cage and then deflate the tire in accordance with the CMM and paragraph 5b(7)(c)(2) instructions to optimize tube stretch. Re-inflate the tire to rated pressure in a safety cage. 2. Follow the instructions, warnings, and cautions provided by the manufacturers of Michelin Condor Aircraft Tires: a) WARNING: Use a suitable inflation cage when inflating a newly mounted tire wheel assembly. any damage to the tire, the wheel, and wheel bolts or improper procedure, may cause the tire/wheel assembly to burst during the inflation process, which may result in serious or fatal injury. b) Place the tire/wheel assembly into a suitable safety cage for inflation; Attach the inflation line to the valve stem; Inflate the tire/wheel assembly to the correct operating pressure for the intended.
