29 CFR 1910.23(b)(8): The employer did not ensure that ladders are used only for the purposes for which they were designed. This violation was observed on or about May 11, 2023, where an employee was observed working on a A-frame ladder that did not have the spreader bars locked in place while the ladder was in use, exposing the employee to the hazard of falls. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation describing the steps taken to ensure ladders are used in accordance with the manufacturer recommendation.
