29 CFR 1910.95(d)(1): When information indicated that any employee's exposure equaled or exceed the 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 decibels, the employer did not develop and implement a monitoring program: On or about May 18, 2023, pressmen working in Industrial Press Area, Department 13 and AG Press Department, were exposed to high noise levels equivalent or exceeding the 8 hour time weighted average (TWA) of 85 dBA and the employer did not ensure a noise monitoring program was implemented onsite for the following: a. On or about May 18, 2023, pressmen in Industrial Press Area, Department 13, was exposed to noise at 196.3% of the permissible daily dose, or an average sound level of 94.8 dBA, as measured over 480 minutes of sampling. This dose is equivalent to an 8-hour TWA exposure of 94.9 accounting for the period of 0 minutes not monitored. b. On or about May 18, 2023, operator in the AG Press Department, was exposed to noise at 83.89% of the permissible daily dose, or an average sound level of 88.8 dBA, as measured over 475 minutes of sampling. This is equivalent to an 8-hour TWA exposure of 88.7 dBA accounting for the period of 5 minutes not monitored. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
